One to One’s

One to onesOne to one’s are where members meet outside the meetings on a one to one basis. This is an important part of being a member of the Business Generation Group Grimsbyn as there is only a limited amount you can learn about a person and their business in the 60 second presentation done at each meeting. Granted you’ll pick up bits as you go along but the absolute best way to stimulate referrals is to learn the ins and outs of each others business and this can only be done by having a one to one.

Businesses change frequently. Even your own business will change dramatically over time even if you don’t realise it. This means that the things you talked about with another member in your last one to one may no longer apply. This may result in you being passed a referral that isn’t ideal for you because you might prefer not to deal with that particular industry or type of client anymore. This is why we encourage members to continue to have one to ones with each other. Once you’ve had a one to one with everyone in the group its best to go back to the first person and have another meeting with them, both your businesses will have changed so you need to keep up to date to maximise the benefits from the group.
Referring back to the typical agenda of a Business Generation Group meeting, you’ll see that we reserve 10 minutes each week for a presentation.

Of course we have each of our members present their business in the 1 minute presentation section of the meeting but the 10 minute slot gives one member a chance to detail their business, or an area of their business in much more detail. During the 10 minute presentation you have the full attention of all the members present.

You may use the 10 minute slot for whatever you wish. Some members in the past have taken the opportunity to use the group as a focus group. Testing out ideas, getting feedback on various aspects of their business from an objective point of view.

The 10 minute slot is taken by one member each week and works on a rota so that every member gets an equal opportunity to use the 10 minute slot.
