We welcome a new Member to BGG Grimsby Joyce Williams, the following is why Joyce joined the BGG: WHY JOIN BGG? I initially joined because I had a brand new business to launch. I am a freelance poet and writer, which I suppose is a bit different from the norm. To my knowledge, there is no competition in the area for the personalised poetry and prose that I do. I had already designed my own brand, had set up my own website, knew I had a flair for what I do – but I didn’t have a clue about what to do about promoting it!
I have been with BGG for three months now and it is, without doubt, one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I have gained tips and advice about the way forward, have got really professional guidance about flyers, business cards, vinyl graphics for the car and general business acumen. With the backing and support of everyone in the group, I have gained enough confidence to order roller banners and marketing stands – and now I am on my second Wedding Fayre!
Commissions are starting to come in now and, all of a sudden, I realise that I can do this! I really do have the confidence to go out and sell my business!
In short, BGG has been marvellous. Everyone in the group is totally positive and encouraging. The meetings, which include a super breakfast, are very well structured but peppered with a real sense of fun and it is evident that there is a tremendous feeling of camaderie amongst those who attend.
I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone thinking of setting up their own business, or indeed already with an established business, to join.
I really look forward to Friday mornings now! I always come away with a buzz, with new ideas running around in my head! Can’t get better than that, can it?
You can only gain from the experience- second to none, I reckon.
Come and join us!

Business Generation Group Beginings |

The Business Generation Group Grimsby (BGG Gy) originated approximately five years ago. The Founder Members were Ray Pearson and Carol and Steve Goodman. The idea was to have a central meeting place where like-minded business people could meet and through networking increase their business potential. The Group has now expanded to almost thirty members with only one of each type of business allowed to be a member at any one time. We meet every Friday morning at the Innovation Centre on the Europa Park at 7.30 a.m. for coffee, networking and full English breakfast (provided by Sage Catering one of our members) - a great way to start the day and weekend. We are a self funding group and all profits are used as a benefit to all in the group. We support a nominated Charity which at the moment is St. Andrew's Hospice, Mike Gresham the Hospice Fundraiser is an Honorary Member of the Group. Committee Meetings are held on a regular basis and all group members are also committee members so any changes of policies are agreed by all. An AGM is held annually with the Election of Officers. Apart from the benefits of business we also hold social events which have included Christmas Dinner/Dance, Go Kart Racing, Motocross, and a Brewery Trip. Potential new members are invited in the first instance as a non paying guest with an invite to return again if they wish to consider joining. This group is an excellent way of developing not only your own business but allowing you to benefit from the services of the other group members while gaining lasting friendships. |
